About the Congestion Management Program
and Environmental Quality Committee

This is the Policy Committee that advises the CCAG Board on all transportation and air quality related matters, primarily the Congestion Management Program, Countywide Transportation Plan, AB 434, Transportation Systems Management, and related legislative matters. This is the most active committee with the broadest range of responsibilities. Its membership was expanded to include voting, public members when CCAG decided to develop a Countywide Transportation Plan.

In 2005, CMEQ voted to expand the number of environmental issues it reviews to include solid waste and recycling, hazardous waste, green building, energy and climate change and will make recommendations on these issues to CCAG.

In 2006, an adhoc committee called the Utilities Working Group (now Utilities Sustainability Task Force) was initiated to study the ongoing needs of the utility infrastructure in San Mateo County and, as the first effort, to develop an Energy Strategy for the county and determine what collaborative efforts could be done to reduce the impacts of increasing energy needs.
